Compare averages with confidence intervals
Upload a spreadsheet, choose what to group by and which number to compare. The chart shows each average with its confidence interval, so you can see whether differences are likely to be real or just noise.
Average by group
Beta version. This is an indicative, approximate result. Confidence intervals are calculated automatically and are not 100% accurate: they assume independent observations and roughly normal data, and become unreliable with very small groups. The tool is still being tested, so it may change and improve over time.
Summary table
How the interval is calculated
For each group: average x̄, sample standard deviation s and count n. The interval is x̄ ± t × s / √n, where t comes from Student's t distribution with n − 1 degrees of freedom. Groups with fewer than two values have no interval.
Reading tip: when two intervals do not overlap, the difference is very likely real. When they overlap, the data alone does not settle it.
